The third major on the golf schedule this season will take place at Pinehurst Resort this weekend. The US Open will be the 1,000th USGA championship in the organization’s history, and a huge purse of $20 million will be up for grabs this weekend.

Before Betting On US Open

The 2024 US Open will get underway at Pinehurst Resort on Thursday, with the champion crowned on Sunday in North Carolina. It will be a testing weekend for some of the world’s best players, with anything under par likely to be enough to challenge for the win. The par 70 course will cover a total distance of 7,550 yards, with the field consisting of 156 players this weekend.

The tournament record scores are held by Rory McIlroy, who finished 16-under when landing victory in 2011. He will once again rank among the leading contenders this weekend, but his wait for a major championship has now reached ten years. He has come close on a number of occasions in recent history at the US Open, finishing in the top ten in each of the last five years.

Scottie Scheffler has already added to his major haul this year, and the top-ranked golfer on the planet once again looks to have leading claims this weekend. The American warmed up for his US Open hunt with a one-shot victory in the Memorial Tournament on his previous outing.

Xander Schauffele also holds strong claims this weekend after winning the PGA Championship last month to end his long wait for a major success. Bryson DeChambeau could also be tailored perfectly for the test this weekend and he showed his ability on the biggest stage by finishing a close second at the previous major this term.

Tommy Fleetwood has been knocking on the door at major championships throughout his career, making the cut on 26 appearances from 35 events. He has finished in the top 25 at the US Open on three occasions, and looks good value to improve on his second-place finish in 2018 this weekend.
