One of the fastest-growing stars on the WTA Tour will be back in action at the US Open on Tuesday, as Qinwen Zheng competes against second-seed Aryna Sabalenka. The winner of this quarterfinal tie will likely be a strong contender to win the Grand Slam at Flushing Meadows.

Before Betting On Qinwen Zheng vs Aryna Sabalenka

It has already been a sensational coming-of-age season for 21-year-old Chinese star Qinwen Zheng. The star burst onto the scene after winning the 2024 gold medal at the Paris Olympics, becoming the first Asian player to win the top prize at the multi-sport Games.

She also became the second Chinese player to achieve a top-ten ranking after Li Na when moving up to seventh in July. To date, she has won four career titles, and she will be looking to end her Grand Slam season on a high after reaching the final at the Australian Open in February. Zheng has proven pedigree at the US Open after reaching the quarterfinals in each of the last two years. She has been taken to three sets on three occasions already at Flushing Meadows this year, and she showed excellent character to overcome Donna Vekic in the previous round.

However, Aryna Sabalenka presents a very different challenge on Tuesday. The 26-year-old has won 21 career titles overall, which includes two Grand Slam successes at the Australian Open. She was also the finalist at the US Open last year, and is currently ranked as the second-best player in the world.

Sabalenka has been typically dominant at Flushing Meadows this year, beating three of her four rivals in straight sets. The Belarusian was at her very best in the previous round after beating Elise Mertens in straight sets, and hitting 74 winners.

Qinwen Zheng vs Aryna Sabalenka Odds & Picks

Match ResultOdds
Qinwen Zheng+280
Aryna Sabalenka-340

Sabalenka boasts a 100% record against Zheng from their two previous meetings, which includes a straight sets success in the final at the Australian Open earlier this season. We believe Zheng will win a Slam eventually, but Sabalenka appears too strong to bet against this week.
