Before Betting On US Open Specials

The exciting major action on the golf schedule continues this weekend, as the third big event of the season will be staged at Pinehurst Resort. The event will get underway on Thursday, June 13, before the champion is crowned on Sunday. June 16.

A total distance of 7,550 yards will be covered at this stroke play event, with a huge purse of $20 million up for grabs. One of the most interesting betting markets this weekend is for a player to complete an Albatross, or a ‘double eagle’. This is an incredibly rare feat on the PGA Tour, and even rarer in major events.

However, there is an expectancy that there may be some low scores at Pinehurst this weekend, meaning it could be worth taking a chance on this being achieved across this major.

Wire to Wire winners have been rare at the US Open, with just seven previous victors having led from the first round. Walter Hagen was the first to achieve the feat in 1914, before Jim Barnes, Tony Jacklin, and Tiger Woods also achieved the feat. The last wire-to-wire winner of the event was Martin Kaymer in 2014. However, we don’t expect another name to be joining this illustrious list this weekend.
