The countdown to one of the biggest sporting events on the planet is well underway, with the 2024 Olympics taking place in Paris, France this summer. One of the biggest honors for an athlete is to be their nation’s flag bearer at the opening ceremony, but which USA star could be handed that honor in France?

Before Betting On USA Flag Bearer

Some of the biggest U.S. stars in sporting history have been bestowed the honor of being the nation’s flag bearer in the opening ceremony at the Olympic Games. The most recent stars to have been handed the accolade were Eddy Alvarez and Sue Bird. Kara Winger was then bestowed the honor in the closing ceremony.

Simone Biles will likely be among the leading contenders this summer. The gymnast previously had the honor of being the USA flag bearer in the closing ceremony at the 2016 Olympics. The 27-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best gymnasts of this generation, and she has won four golds, one silver, and two bronze medals at the Olympics.

Yianni Diakomihalis is also among the front runners at this stage. The 24-year-old will be representing the nation this year in wrestling after winning the silver medal at the World Championships last year. He is a four-time NCAA Division I champion, and is among the USA’s leading medal hopes in 2024.

Noah Lyles is also likely to have a leading chance of being the USA flag bearer, as he competes in his second Games. The 26-year-old is a hot favorite to win the 100m gold after landing a bronze medal in the 200m at the 2020 Games in Tokyo. His form has already been solid, winning the 100m and 200m golds at the 2023 World Championships 2023 in Budapest.
