While Williams was as good as advertised, the Trojans struggled so mightily on defense that they spent most of the season unranked. It could be a tumultuous season for the Trojans.
LSU ranked inside of the preseason top-16 for the 5th time in the past 6 years, and in the top-25 for 23 of the past 24 seasons. However, the Tigers have only finished with a higher ranking than they started three times since 2012. To avoid sliding in the rankings again, they need to open with a win against USC.
