  • USC defeated Louisville in the Holiday Bowl last season, finishing 8-5 on the year.
  • LSU improved to 10-3 after defeating Wisconsin, 35-31, in the ReliaQuest Bowl.
  • These two teams last met on September 28, 1985, in a game that LSU won 23-3.

The 2024-25 college football season kicks off in just a matter of days! This Week 1 clash features a matchup between the #23 USC Trojans and the #13 LSU Tigers. USC will need to replace QB Caleb Williams’ production.

Before Betting on USC vs LSU

USC had high hopes of making the CFP last season, centered around QB Caleb Williams. While Williams was as good as advertised, the Trojans struggled so mightily on defense that they spent most of the season unranked. With Williams being selected #1 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, USC will be faced with replacing him, improving defensively, and competing in a stronger Big-10 conference. It could be a tumultuous season for the Trojans.

LSU ranked inside of the preseason top-16 for the 5th time in the past 6 years, and in the top-25 for 23 of the past 24 seasons. However, the Tigers have only finished with a higher ranking than they started three times since 2012. To avoid sliding in the rankings again, they need to open with a win against USC. LSU has lost four consecutive opening week matchups, and hasn’t won a game in Week 1 since going 15-0 in the 2019 season.

USC vs LSU Offshore Odds

This game holds big stakes for both USC and LSU. In the old 4-team CFP, neither would have a realistic chance of cracking the field. That being said, the newly expanded 12-team field makes things far more doable for the Tigers and Trojans. The winner of this game will pick up a key ranked victory that should still hold weight by the end of the season. LSU is the favorite as both the higher-ranked and home team. They should win this game.
