Valentin Moldavsky vs. Steve Mowry is a heavyweight fight that will serve as the co-main event of Bellator 298: Storley vs. Ward. The event is on the program on Friday, August 11, at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, SD.

The two have already met once (on August 12, 2022), but the fight ended without a winner (no contest) after Moldavsky accidentally poked Mowry in the eye. One year and a day later, the two meet again. Will we see a winner this time and who is it going to be?

Before Betting on Moldavsky vs. Mowry

Valentin Moldavsky is a protégé of legendary Fedor Emelianenko, with whom he trains in the FedorTeam. Like Fedor, Moldavsky too is a great wrestler with incredibly powerful strikes. However, unlike his teacher, Moldavsky doesn’t finish his opponents too often. Instead, he prefers fighting more tactically, the result of which is that most of his wins happened by decision.

Fighting carefully means that he doesn’t give his opponents the chance to finish him. In fact, he got finished only once in his career which started back in 2015. What’s got to worry him is that the finish in question happened in his most recent fight.

It was March 2023 when he got KO-ed by Linton Vassell in round 1. That’s the worst performance in his career, but Moldavsky seems determined to leave it behind him. The best way to achieve that is to get back to the winning track this coming Friday.

The trouble is that Steve Mowry is a tricky fighter who’s still without a single loss in his pro career. He’s got 10 wins in his portfolio, along with one draw and one no-contest. All 10 of his wins happened by a finish (6 by submission and 4 by KO/TKO).

Mowry is a well-rounded fighter, but if there’s one advantage he’s got over Moldavsky, it’s his height. Nicknamed “Tall,” he’s 6’8 tall, meaning that hitting him in the head is actually a big challenge.

Moldavsky is one of the most technical fighters in Bellator MMA, with an incredible fight IQ. He probably realizes that finishing the big man on Friday is almost impossible, which is why he’ll probably try to outbox him. That said, we think that the most likely scenario for the Bellator 298 co-main event is that Moldavsky is going to win by points.
