UPDATE: The Vicente Luque vs. Nick Diaz fight is canceled due to visa issues, so it won’t serve as the UFC Abu Dhabi co-main event. Instead, the fight between Sharabutdin “Shara Bullet” Magomedov and Michal “Hussar” Oleksiejczuk has been announced as the new co-main. You can read about that fight in our Shara Magomedov vs. Michal Oleksiejczuk preview.

Our Vicente Luque vs. Nick Diaz pick is under 5 rounds. We predict that the UFC Abu Dhabi co-main event will last less than 25 minutes. If you’re wondering why, it’s because these two are great finishers – Luque’s finish rate is 86.36%, and Diaz’s is 80.76%.

So, the big question is who’s gonna finish who on August 3 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE)? To learn the answer, just keep on reading our Luque vs. Diaz preview!

Before Betting on Vicente Luque vs. Nick Diaz

Nick Diaz (26-10-2) is coming back to the Octagon after a 3-year hiatus. The last time he fought, he lost to Robbie Lawler by a TKO (retirement), following Diaz’s refusal to get up after being dropped by his opponent.

What’s interesting is that Diaz’s coach Cesar Gracie said after the fight that he had ruptured disks in his neck in that fight. What’s even more interesting is that the fight in question happened after a 6-year period of Diaz’s inactivity.

Before that fight, he last fought in 2015. It was a 5-round bout with Anderson Silva. More than nine years later, he’s supposed to fight another 5-rounder, and we don’t think he’s got the stamina for it. Plus, he’ll be exactly 41 years and one day old at the time of the Luque vs. Diaz fight in Abu Dhabi.

His opponent is almost a decade younger and in a much better condition. Vicente Luque is 22-10-1 overall and has fought four times since the last time Diaz stepped into the Octagon.

The bad news for Luque’s fans is that three of those four fights ended in a loss for The Silent Assassin. On the bright side, they happened against really good opponents – Belal Muhammad, Geoff Neal, and Joaquin Buckley.
