The Minnesota Vikings (6-2) have had a nightmarish schedule in 2024. In Week 10, they finally get an on-paper weaker opponent as they travel to Jacksonville to play the 2-7 Jaguars. Our Vikings vs Jaguars prediction is for favored Minnesota to cover the 7-point spread. The two teams will combine to score more than 43.5 points.

Head-to-head, Minnesota has won six of the seven matchups.

Minnesota’s Rough Schedule Eases for the Moment

No one can say the Vikings have not earned their 6-2 mark — good enough for second place in the brutal NFC North.

They have beaten San Francisco, Houston, Green Bay, and Indianapolis. Their two losses were narrow ones to Detroit and the Los Angeles Rams.

Minnesota has ridden a powerful offense led by journeyman former third overall draft pick quarterback Sam Darnold, superlative wideout Justin Jefferson, and running back Aaron Jones. They rank eighth in the NFL in points scored.

Defensively, they have been among the league’s best against the run. They are vulnerable to the pass and are ranked near the bottom.

Fortunately, for the Vikings, the Jaguars are worse against the pass and are not very good against the run.

QB Trevor Lawrence Unlikely To Play for Jaguars

Jacksonville’s star quarterback Trevor Lawrence has a shoulder injury and will not play. Running back Travis Etienne is questionable due to a hamstring issue.

This will certainly be problematic for an already unproductive offense. The Jaguars have ghastly overall numbers:

  • They have scored 21.7 points per game (18th in the NFL)
  • For points allowed, they are 30th (28 per game)
  • Their takeaway differential is -7 (27th)
  • Offensively, their passing yards per game is 17th
  • Rushing yards per game is 22nd
  • Defending against the pass, they are 28th in yards per game
  • Defending against the run, they are 16th

And Mac Jones will start at quarterback.

He was benched by Bill Belichick in New England and subsequently discarded for a sixth-round draft pick.

In 2022, during head coach Doug Pederson’s first season with the team, the Jaguars emerged from a similar predicament of being 2-6 and left for dead. They won seven of nine to make the playoffs, won their Wild Card Game, and lost in the division round.

That is not happening this year. Major changes are on the horizon.

Vikings vs Jaguars Prediction: Minnesota Wins in a Blowout

Jacksonville has been competitive in the past two weeks losing by a field goal to Green Bay and by five to Philadelphia. Despite that, they do not have their star quarterback Lawrence.

Minnesota must keep its foot on the gas. Weeks 10 and 11 give them a brief respite against Jacksonville and Tennessee.

Minnesota will cover the touchdown spread and the two teams will go beyond 43.5 points.
