The Blue Devils have been put through a gauntlet lately, but look for a little reprieve heading into the Wake Forest vs Duke matchup on Thursday night in Durham. Duke (5-3) has dropped three of their last four following a 4-0 start, but are double digit favorites at home against a Wake Forest (4-4) program that has lost four of their last five and are especially struggling on offense.

Before Betting on Wake Forest vs Duke

While Duke has seen some tough defeats lately, all three of their losses have come as underdogs and against teams that are now in the top 15 to #12 Notre Dame (21-14), #4 Florida State (38-20), and last Saturday to #15 Louisville (23-0). The short week will help the Blue Devils quickly forget their worst offensive showing of the season, and they’re also back home (4-1) after two straight weeks on the road.

One thing the short week does not do is help Duke QB Riley Leonard, who was just 9/23 for 121 yards vs the Cardinals. Leonard has also been battling an ankle injury, but the good news is that Wake Forest doesn’t do anything special on defense and has surrendered 30+ points in three of their last five.

Duke needs to get back on the winning track, and in many ways they have the perfect matchup to do so on Thursday night. The Demon Deacons offense has been atrocious really since week 3, scoring 21 points or less in five straight games. In fact, Wake has the worst scoring offense in the ACC (22.3) and it doesn’t help matters that the Blue Devils top the conference in points allowed (15.0) which is #9 in the country.

Wake Forest vs Duke Week 10 Prediction & Pick

These two teams played each other close last season in a 34-31 Duke win, and the coaches do have familiarity with each other with Blue Devils head man Mike Elko being a former defensive coordinator under Wake’s Dave Clawson. When you combine that with the short week it’s unlikely we see a blowout here.

Pick: Wake Forest +12.5
