  • The Warriors are 13-9 and tied for the best record in the Pacific Division.
  • Minnesota is 12-10 and is tied with Denver for the second-best record in the Northwest Division.
  • These teams clashed Friday night, with Minnesota coming out on top 107-90.

One of the games on Sunday night’s NBA slate features the Golden State Warriors taking on the Minnesota Timberwolves. Surprisingly, Golden State has the fifth-best record in the conference playoff race. At the same time, Minnesota currently sits at No. 9 spot. Our Warriors vs Timberwolves prediction foresees the Timberwolves claiming another early-season victory over Golden State.

Warriors Looking To Overcome Recent Struggles

The Warriors started hot, with 12 wins in their first 15 contests. After that hot start, Golden State has dropped six of its previous seven contests, including a 107-90 setback against the Timberwolves on Friday night. Golden State trailed by six points after the third quarter.

Unfortunately, Minnesota outscored them by a 29-18 margin in the final frame en route to a double-digit victory. Stephen Curry spearheaded a scoring attack, with three starters reaching double figures. He finished a team-high 23 points but shot just 6-for-17 overall and 3-for-9 from beyond the arc.

Timberwolves Go For The Two-Game Sweep

The Timberwolves posted an 8-6 record through their first 14 games before enduring an early-season four-game losing streak. Fortunately, the team has bounced back nicely with wins in each of their previous four outings, including the 19-point win over the Warriors on Friday night. All of Minnesota’s starters scored in double figures.

Anthony Edwards led the way with 30 points and nine assists on an 11-for-18 effort from the floor. Rudy Gobert and Julius Randle chipped in with 17 and 16 points, respectively. Even more impressive, Minnesota’s defense held the Warriors to 39 percent shooting from the field and 28.2 percent from 3-point range.

Warriors vs Timberwolves Prediction: Wolves Win Once Again

True, the Warriors got off to a terrific start. But in light of their recent struggles, that respectable start appears to have been more of an aberration. Conversely, the Timberwolves have a four-game winning streak and seem to have found their groove. This especially holds true from a defensive standpoint, as the team is ranked fourth in scoring defense (106.6 PPG) and defensive rating (108.2 Points Per 100 Possessions). With that in mind, look for Minnesota to get the sweep here.
