Action in the third round of the FA Cup continues on Sunday, as West Ham United look to continue their excellent campaign by reaching the fourth round. The Hammers will have home field advantage for the visit of Bristol City this weekend.

Before Betting On West Ham vs Bristol City

It has been a strong first half to the 2023-24 season for West Ham, but David Moyes will be plotting more silverware with the Hammers after winning the Europa Conference League last term. West Ham boast an excellent record in this fixture, having won both of the two previous meetings between the sides in the competition. Their most recent success was a 1-0 win in January 2015.

Meanwhile, Bristol have gone eleven meetings without a victory against the Hammers across all competitions. Over that period, they have lost on six occasions, with five meetings ending in draws. Their most recent loss was a 1-0 defeat in the fourth round of the FA Cup in 2015.

West Ham have been effective at this stage of the FA Cup throughout recent history, having progressed from the third round in each of the last six seasons. They haven’t managed to progress from the opening round in seven straight seasons since 2007. David Moyes also has an excellent record against Bristol as a manager, having avoided defeats in all four previous clashes.

It is also worth mentioning Bristol’s poor record against Premier League opposition, as they have only beaten top-flight rivals on one occasion in their previous 15 efforts in the FA Cup. Their only success was a 1-0 victory over Huddersfield Town in the third round in 2018-19.
