The action in the third round of the FA Cup continues this week, as the important replays to determine the sides that progress through to the fourth round will be staged. There will be big pressure on Wolves when they come up against Brentford, as a potential showdown with Black Country rivals West Brom could await in the fourth round.

Before Betting On Wolves vs Brentford

Wolves and Brentford collide for the third time this season on Tuesday, as the hosts look to build on their impressive showings against the Bees this term. They were up against it in the first meeting between the sides in the competition, as they were forced to play 81 minutes with just ten men on the field. However, Wolves scored with their only shot on target at Brentford.

The Bees have a poor record on the road against Wolves, having lost four of their six previous matches at Molineux. Wolves were beaten in a replay by Liverpool last season, but they haven’t gone out in successive seasons in the third round since 1975. That bodes well for their chances on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Brentford have a very poor record against top-flight sides in the FA Cup, as they have progressed from just one of their last 16 ties. Their only success was achieved in 2005-06, as they eliminated Sunderland when the Bees were a League One side. However, they were edged out by West Ham in this stage last term.

Brentford have also underperformed in FA Cup replays, as they have progressed from just two replays in the third round throughout their history. The most recent of their victories was recorded in 2012-13 against Southend. However, memories of Brentford’s 4-1 loss against Wolves will remain very fresh, after the Black Country side picked up a huge away win against their rivals in the league in December.
