Before Betting On Women’s Olympic Tennis
The best players in the world will be in action in the women’s tennis event at the Olympics this summer. It will be a particularly poignant moment in Paris, as the first female tennis event in the history of the Games was held in France in 1900. As is the case with the men’s event, there will be a familiar feel to the competition, with the women’s gold being contest on the clay at Roland Garros.
It will be the first time that the tennis events have been competed on a clay surface since the Barcelona Games in 1992. On that occasion, American star Jennifer Capriati landed a gold medal. The women’s events in recent editions have been hard to work out, with the reigning champion Belinda Bencic being among the outsiders in Japan in 2020.
However, Iga Swiatek should be challenging to beat in Paris this summer, with the Polish star having dominated on the clay at Roland Garros throughout recent history. She has won three French Open titles on the surface, and could open the Olympics as a four-time champion.
Aryna Sabalenka will once again be her main danger in a huge event. Sabalenka has won two Grand Slam titles to date and has reached at least the semi-final stage in all but two of the events since Wimbledon in 2021. She boasts a moderate win rate of 67% on the clay at the French Open.
