The inaugural UFL season is heating up as it enters the second half. This Week 6 game features a clash between the San Antonio Brahmas (4-1) and the D.C. Defenders (2-3). The Brahmas are looking to maintain their hot steak with a victory, while the Defenders need a win to avoid sliding further down the standings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before Betting on Brahmas vs Defenders<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

San Antonio improved to 4-1 following Saturday’s win over the Renegades. They now hold a two-game lead in the playoff race, with just five weeks to play. A win here would bring them one step closer to clinching a playoff spot, by increasing that lead to three games. On the other hand, a defeat would close the gap to just one game and put them in jeopardy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Brahmas were fortunate their rushing game was churning last week, because QB Quinten Dormandy struggled. He completed 19 of 30 passes for 164 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. On the other hand, RBs John Lovett and Morgan Ellison rushed the ball a combined 20 times for 179 yards and two touchdowns. Dormandy needs to bounce back in Week 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

D.C. dropped to 2-3 after getting blown out by the Battlehawks at home. The final score appears more lopsided than the game was, however. The Defenders trailed 20-12 entering the 4th quarter, before getting outscored 25-0 in the final frame. QB Jordan Ta’amu had another rough day, completing 12 of 23 passes for 101 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While giving up 45 points looks bad for D.C.’s defense, the actual performance against a red-hot Battlehawks team was not bad. Had they not been exhausted from spending much of the game on the field due to the offense’s failings, the defense probably would have held up better in the 4th quarter. That will be something for the Defenders to build on in a crucially important game back at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the more balanced UFL matchup of the week, and likely to be the most exciting. As the second half of the season began, this quickly became a huge matchup in the playoff picture. Should the Brahmas pull off the win on the road, their playoff odds would rise to above 90%, while D.C.’s would fall to around 5%.
