However, an elusive first major honor since 1966 still evades the nation, with the closest that they have come being when they were beaten in the penalty shootout by Italy at EURO 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>England will kick off the major tournament this summer as one of the leading chances, and their case is only made stronger based on the form of some of their biggest stars this season.
