A couple of West Coast teams meet up on Monday night to kick off a three game series when the A’s make the 375 mile trek south to visit the Angels. Oakland just wrapped up a 3-3 home stand, which is respectable for a 29-51 team while Los Angeles (30-46) split a two-game set with the Dodgers and were also idle Sunday because of a weird scheduling quirk with their freeway rivals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Offshore oddsmakers are calling this game fairly close, which you do in a matchup with two teams that won’t sniff the postseason. The A’s have lost 12 of their last 13 road games which automatically gives a lean to Los Angeles at a pretty decent price, but the Angels are also just 12-25 at home on the season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A big issue with taking Los Angeles in Monday’s series opener is that their offense is putrid, hitting just .172 as a team over the past week and hitting a total of only 2 HRs. The A’s have also scored 2 runs or less in three of their last four – but at least Oakland 2B Zack Gelof<\/strong> had a HR in each of the three games<\/a> of the series against the Royals last week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
