The Angels (52-69) are once again just waiting for a nightmare season to end, and they&#8217;re not even putting up a fight anymore as losers of five of their last six.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"before-betting-on-august-16-braves-vs-angels\">Before Betting on August 16 Braves vs Angels<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>One big advantage the Braves have in Friday&#8217;s game is that they&#8217;ve already been on the West Coast for a week and won&#8217;t have the jet lag from a cross country flight. Atlanta started their long road trip by dropping two of three to the Rockies at Coors Field, but they did score 24 runs in the three game set. The Braves have bounced back though, taking three of four in San Francisco this week including a 13-2 victory on Wednesday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Braves might be tiring on their road trip after a 6-0 loss to the Giants on Thursday, but even a mediocre effort might be enough to beat this Angels squad. LAA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/angels\/story\/2024-08-14\/angels-blue-jays\">just got swept over a three game series<\/a> at home against the Blue Jays, scoring a total of 5 runs in the process. Soriano has been great lately, allowing 1 ER or less in four of his last five while posting a 1.91 ERA over that span. Los Angeles is 4-1 in Soriano&#8217;s last five starts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Whit Merrifield<\/strong> (HR) and <strong>Austin Riley<\/strong> (2B) both have extra base hits in their only career ABs vs. Soriano. Braves starter <strong>Spencer Schwellenbach<\/strong> (4-5, 3.95 ERA) hopes that transfers into some run support although he doesn&#8217;t need a ton after allowing just 5 total ER over his last three starts.
