{"id":4618,"date":"2019-09-21T18:19:37","date_gmt":"2019-09-21T18:19:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.offshoresportsbooks.com\/news\/?p=4618"},"modified":"2024-07-17T12:42:52","modified_gmt":"2024-07-17T12:42:52","slug":"report-wada-suspects-new-tampering-by-rusada","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.offshoresportsbooks.com\/news\/report-wada-suspects-new-tampering-by-rusada\/","title":{"rendered":"Report: WADA Suspects New Tampering by RUSADA"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>A new report ahead of\na Monday meeting of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) may prove that the\nnewly-reinstated RUSADA submitted falsified data and samples to the regulator. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">RUSADA May Have\nTampered with Athletes Samples <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Russian\nanti-doping agency may have tampered with doping data, sources have revealed.\nAccording to investigators who spoke to The Associated Press, the data and\nsamples received by the <strong>World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)<\/strong> before may have\nin fact been tampered with by the Russian watchdog (<strong>RUSADA<\/strong>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If this proves true,\nRussian athletes will risk being suspended from international competitions yet\nagain. WADA has successfully examined the data from the 2014 Sochi Olympics\nwhich have pointed to serious and wide-spread use of performance enhancement\ndrugs banned under international laws. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WADA obtained the data voluntarily with the Russian anti-doping agency assisting. However, now a new report stipulates that the data may have in fact been manipulated prior to being sent to WADA back in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wada-ama.org\/sites\/default\/files\/201901_excomeetingrusada_externalqsas.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">late 2018, early 2019<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The World\u2019s doping\nwatchdog is prepared to reveal more data in an upcoming meeting on Monday in\nTokyo. Multiple international athletic organizations are investigating Russia\nfor massive drug enhancement practices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The International\nAssociation of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has refused to lift the ban it has\non Russian runners and other athletes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Are the Long-Term\nRepercussions for Russian Athletics?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Should the latest\nreport turn out to be true, Russia may use its privilege to participate in\ninternational competitions for years to come. Even though this would be a\nsevere move, it may prove one that is very likely. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That could further\naffect Russia\u2019s Olympics prospects as well. However, WADA will have to prove at\nthe Court of Arbitration for Sport that RUSADA has been knowingly and\nintentionally sabotaging and tampering with data, something that won\u2019t prove\nvery easy to begin with. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One difficulty comes\nfrom the fact that many athletes who may have cheated have had clean samples\nput on record. Therefore, the laboratory\u2019s data \u2013 the one in Moscow that tested\nthe athletes \u2013 was long considered to be a crucial detail in the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, if the reports prove truthful, then there would be no telling what part of the data is true \u2013 let alone for WADA to build a case and bring it to a successful closure at CAS.
