The rift between the organization and the athlete came after he submitted himself for treatment at the Progressive Medical Center in Atlanta in the care of <strong>Dr. Viktor Bouquette<\/strong>, the Yankees specified elaborating on the issue. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Yankees plan not to pay Jacoby Ellsbury for 2020 after releasing him. The New York Post also reported earlier that Ellsbury will most\nlikely not get paid the remainder of his contractual money \u2013 a welcome move for\nthe Yankees as they wouldn\u2019t have to deal with a pesky luxury tax. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the same time, it\u2019s likely for the MLB players\u2019 union to take action.\nThis is what an official statement said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThe players\u2019 association will vigorously\ndefend any action taken against Jacoby or his contract and is investigating\npotential contract violations by his employer.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"prohibitive-insurances\">Prohibitive Insurances<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The issue the Yankees has with Ellsbury is simple to understand\u2013 high-value\nplayers may not receive treatment outside team facilities, especially if such\ntreatment is not a matter of serious or emergency conditions. Ellsbury should\nhave also gone with his team\u2019s advice, as his rehab was to blame for the athlete\u2019s\ninability to participate in a game for nearly two years now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An article by Forbes has suggested that the Yankees have decided to use\na policy that would allow them to remove Ellsbury and claim back a part of the\nagreed-upon salary. Something that Forbes contributor Wallace Matthews\ndescribed as an area where the team would need to tread <em>\u2018very cautiously <\/em>into.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Put plainly, Matthews raised the question of possible insurance fraud \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/wallacematthews\/2018\/06\/01\/jacoby-ellsburys-absence-seems-to-be-working-out-for-him-and-the-yankees\/#462b24ec6f9e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">without actually saying it was<\/a>.
