As well as this, he is also looking to introduce a mid-season\ncompetition which will feature every NBA team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The news isn\u2019t likely to go down well, especially\nconsidering that Silver is looking to shorten the length of the regular season\nto accommodate this mid-season competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"potential-obstacles-to-plans\">Potential Obstacles To Plans<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As you would imagine, there are a few stumbling blocks that\ncould affect any kind of plan to alter the league drastically, and one of which\nrevolves around the players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adrian Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe have already admitted that\nthere could be a stumbling block surrounding the players\u2019 interest in changing\nthe league. At the moment, the NBA is one of the most lucrative sports\ncompetitions in the world, and there are already enough games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Players will be forced to play more games under the proposed guidelines, and it would seem that resistance from some of the top stars would see this plan fall flat. Players such as <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.offshoresportsbooks.com\/news\/nikola-jokic-admits-defence-prevailed-against-rockets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Nikola Jokic (opens in a new tab)\">Nikola Jokic<\/a> could be a big stumbling block. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not just that, but the NBA will also have discussions with\nthe league\u2019s broadcasting partners from around the world to see if it would be\nof interest for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Silver\u2019s plan would be to get the reassurance of players and broadcasters before bringing the proposed changes to a meeting involving the board of governors. This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.co.uk\/nba\/story\/_\/id\/27243621\/inside-tense-nba-owners-meeting-change-free-agency\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"meeting is likely to take place in April (opens in a new tab)\">meeting is likely to take place in April<\/a>. But it is uncertain whether Silver will have the numbers to address his ideal changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-is-the-mid-season-competition\">What Is The Mid-Season Competition?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The mid-season tournament that is being proposed will loosely be based on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quora.com\/What-is-the-difference-between-Premier-League-and-Champions-League\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Champions League model (opens in a new tab)\">Champions League model<\/a> used in European soccer. Regular season division games will be used to create a round-robin competition to set up an entirely new playoff system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The teams that will progress from these playoffs will then\nhave the chance to win the in-season championship. The appetite for this may be\nan issue, but it could be a profitable gain for the NBA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They would be able to sell this stand-alone tournament as a\ncompletely different entity to the regular season and persuade bidders to make\ntheir move to showcase the best of NBA in one new competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The final proposal that Silver has made is to have play-in\ngames for the playoffs at the end of the season.
