The Minnesota Twins head to the West Coast with a hold on first place in the AL Central, they just hope that’s still the case when they get back to the Twin Cities on June 21st. Minnesota has a 3 game lead on Cleveland in the division, but are just 5-5 over their last 10 games. The Twins did take two of three from Tampa Bay at home this weekend however. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Seattle Mariners are a little further back in their respective division, trailing Houston by 10 games. Seattle wrapped up a successful 6-3 road trip by dropping two of three at T-Mobile Park against Boston over the weekend. It was still a better performance against Boston then the 4-game sweep from a couple weeks ago when the Mariners gave up a total of 33 runs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chris Archer<\/strong> (1-2, 3.65 ERA) is on the bump for the Twins who are 5-1 in their last 6 Monday games. The right-hander looks good lately, holding opponents to 1 ER in 4 of his last 5 starts although he only goes for a maximum of 5.0 IP meaning the Twins bullpen will be needed here. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Mariners send Chris Flexen<\/strong> (2-7, 4.35 ERA) to the mound hoping for a third win in his last four starts. Seattle lost 7 of his first 8 starts this season but perhaps he’s turned a corner in allowing 6 ER total over his last three outings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Seattle has done a nice job of avoiding losing streaks as they are 6-0 after their last six defeats. Archer has thrown the ball well lately, but Minnesota is still in a tough spot making the cross country trek after a six game home stand.
