The PGA Tour action takes place in North Carolina this weekend, as the Wyndham Championship takes center stage. It promises to be a thrilling event, as the curtain begins to come down on a thrilling season of action. However, which players could be among the leading contenders to claim a share of the $7.6 million purse this weekend?

Before Betting On Wyndham Championship

The Wyndham Championship promises to be one of the most competitive events on the golf schedule this weekend. It has been held annually since 1938, but it was moved from its regular spot in April back in 2003, and it is now one of the final PGA Tour events of the season. This weekend’s event will be staged on the Ross Course at Sedgefield Country Club in North Carolina, with a total distance of 7,127 yards being covered over the par 70 course.

Tom Kim is the reigning champion following a dramatic success in 2022. However, the joint-aggregate record is held by both Henrik Stenson and J. T. Poston. Meanwhile, the par record is still held by Jesper Parnevik, who finished 23-under when landing victory in 1999.

Poston could be a value play in the betting this weekend, as he is certainly a player that competes very well at this event. His one-shot win in 2019 could be hard to overlook, while a number of other previous star performers could also be set for a renewed bid.

Hideki Matsuyama is a player that is ending the season in excellent form, as he backed up his strong effort at The Open by finishing in a tie for 30th at the 3M Open last weekend. Justin Thomas and Shane Lowry are two other big names that will be involved this weekend, and there would be little surprise to see both stars bounce back to form, despite being sent off at a huge price in the betting.

Poston looks a solid play for this event on the PGA Tour this weekend. However, we will also be taking a chance on Billy Horschel. He may have struggled for form in recent months, but he looked back to somewhere near his best last weekend, and was previous second in this event in 2020.
