The first road trip of the season was a success for the Yankees over the weekend as they took two of three in Baltimore to pick up a series win. New York (6-3) is still three games back from the undefeated Rays as they head to Cleveland. The 6-4 Guardians just lost two of three to Seattle in their first home stand of the year, so they’ll try to get back to .500 at Progressive Field on this young 2023 season.
Before Betting on Yankees vs Guardians
Everybody knows about the potent Yankees lineup led by Aaron Judge who had a 2-HR day on Sunday against Baltimore, but it’s the New York pitching that is in the top 5 with a 2.81 ERA two weeks into the season.
Domingo German will try to keep that solid itching mark in tact as he takes the mound for the Yankees on Monday. The right-hander allowed 4 ER (2HR) over just 4.2 IP in his first start of the year, putting his ERA up to 7.71 after one outing. German did not face Cleveland in any of his 14 starts in 2022.
Cleveland could only manage one win over the Mariners at home this past weekend after taking three of four in Seattle to start the year. The Guardians hope for better success as the Yankees come to town, but New York won five of the six head to head meetings last season while posting a run margin of 38-14.
Cleveland is still the favorite on Monday night with Shane Bieber (0-0, 2.25 ERA) on the bump. The Guardians have lost Bieber’s first two starts of the season but he has owned Judge over the years with the Yankees superstar going just 1-11 against the Cleveland starter in his career.
