The Orioles (88-70) have handled the Yankees (92-66) well in 2024 with a head-to-head record of 8 wins and 4 losses.
Both clubs are already in the playoffs. With four games remaining in the regular season, the Yankees need one win or an Orioles loss to clinch the AL East and advance straight to the Division Series.

Both the Orioles and Yankees have their aces and former Cy Young Award winners on the mound for this matchup. Baltimore will start Corbin Burnes (15-8, 2.95 ERA). He won the NL CYA in 2021 with the Brewers and finished 7th and 8th in the voting in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
The Yankees counter with Gerrit Cole ((7-5, 3.67), the AL CYA winner in 2023. Cole missed nearly the entire first half of the 2024 season with an elbow injury. His last start was a dominating performance against the Athletics logging 9 innings, surrendering 2 hits, 1 run and striking out 7.
Burnes has been effective against the Yankees’ primary bats holding Aaron Judge hitless in 6 at-bats and Anthony Rizzo hitless in 11. Juan Soto is 2 for 3 with a double in his career vs. Burnes.
Judge is searing hot overall with home runs in four consecutive games and 57 for the season.
Cole has started two games against the Orioles in 2024 logging 10 innings, surrendering 8 hits, 3 runs and striking out 12. Despite that, several Orioles batters have done very well against Cole in their careers:

Orioles vs. Yankees Prediction
The Yankees are almost certainly going to clinch the division eventually. They are playing the last-place Pirates starting Friday. The Orioles are heading to Minnesota to play the Twins who are fighting for their own postseason spot.
Regardless, the Orioles have hit well against Cole and Burnes has been tremendous in September after struggling in August.
The Orioles will extend the division race for one more day.
