The MLB season is heating up as the month of June approaches. This interleague series features a matchup between the New York Yankees (35-17) and the San Diego Padres (27-26). Both teams have playoff aspiriations and will be competing to pick up a quality series win over the weekend.

Before Betting on Yankees vs Padres

The Yankees continue to dominate the opposition this season. They improved to 35-17 following a 9-2 stretch in the last 11 games. No other team in the AL has won more than New York, and only the Phillies have matched them in the whole MLB. The Yankees have always had success on offense, and remain ranked 3rd in the MLB in runs scored. Where they’ve really improved is their pitching, which is currently 1st in the league in runs allowed, despite ace Gerrit Cole having missed every game so far.

The Padres continue to hang right around the .500 mark. The next couple of months will be crucial for San Diego. They’ll be established as either sellers or buyers depending on how that time plays out. The Padres have the payroll and aspirations of a postseason team, but have struggled to stay healthy and perform at a level expected of them. San Diego’s offense ranks 7th in the MLB in runs scored, but the defense has slid to 17th in runs allowed.

Yankees vs Padres Offshore Odds

Game ResultOdds
Yankees win-120
Padres win+100

The Yankees have an advantage in this series as the better overall team, but will be traveling a large distance to the West Coast. After splitting with the Mariners back in New York, I wouldn’t expect the Yankees to sweep this series. Winning it, on the other hand, is a different story. Their offense will test the Padres, and the rotation will make it difficult for San Diego to keep pace.
