According to various sources from the Italian sports media, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is hours away from becoming AC Milan’s player. Again.

Ibra and AC Milan Vol. II

The sources are indicating that Ibrahimovic, 38, agreed verbally with AC Milan’s management about a six-month contract, which will bring him back to the team where he spent two seasons.

This comes six weeks after LA Galaxy and the Swedish international parted ways. During that time, Ibra has been in the center of attention. The entire soccer community around the world was waiting for his decision regarding the next destination.

Various teams were in option, starting with Napoli, Everton, Manchester United, Bologna, but in the end, he chose AC Milan.

During his first stint there between 2010 and 2012, Zlatan led Rossoneri to a Serie A title in 2011, and the next year he won the Capocannonieri trophy as the top scorer of the competition. In a short time, he became one of the most popular players among Milan’s fans, even though he appeared for both Juventus and Inter Milan previously. Without a doubt he is one of the greatest players in the Serie A history.

After spending two seasons in LA Galaxy, where he scored 52 goals in 56 matches, Ibrahimovic, according to his words, revived his career and wants to have another shot in one of the best soccer leagues in the world.

Milan might just be the perfect place for him, as once the biggest team in the world, struggles now, and is seemingly hitting rock bottom in recent times.

Rossoneri Desperate for a Saviour

Recently AC Milan suffered a humiliation against Atalanta on the road. The seven-time European champions lost 5-0, against the local rival, who didn’t have any mercy towards them.

Right now, the team is in the 11th place on the Serie A standings with 21 points in 17 matches and a negative goal-difference, 16:24.

For a long time, this team is not competitive, and they are removed from the top layer of European soccer. The only trophy since Ibrahimovic’s departure in 2012, was Coppa Italia in 2016, but this competition hasn’t got any value among the fans.

With Ibrahimovic’s arrival, the team is not hoping only to improve its productivity upfront but also to regain a bit of popularity lost over a previous couple of years. AC Milan’s status has severely deteriorated after all the controversies this club experienced with the Chinese owners, the debts, all the transfer busts, etc.

No doubt, even if Zlatan fails to provide the expected number of goals, the atmosphere around San Siro will, for sure, be a little bit better. Also, his comeback might cause other world-class players to come to Milan.

So far, that has been the biggest problem for this team. Good players didn’t want to come, as they no longer see Milan as a place where they might battle for silverware or at least make a name for themselves. The harsh truth for all the Rossoneri lovers is that their favorites are nothing more than a mediocre club at the moment.

However, with Ibra on boar, all that might change very quickly. Probably not until the end of the year, but it could make a nice swing before the next campaign.
